Lily Allen has stunned music fans after axing her own recording contract, complaining that she doesn't earn enough money! 'Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause)', she wrote. 'I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.' The 24 year old added. 'The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I'm concerned, so I don't (at this point) stand to profit from legislation. 'Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which wont be much).' Hours later, The Fear singer publically lashed out at illegal file-sharers, saying, 'Illegal file-sharing damages music because it harms new artists.' 'When you start in a music career, you need money to establish and promote yourself and pay for your material to be recorded.' 'This money comes from music sales, because when you're a new music artist you can't make enough from gigs or selling T-shirts.' 'If you can't sell your music, you can't go on. It's that simple.' The performer had been championing record companies and fellow artists, urging them to do something about illegal downloads. 'There is a meeting today in London where artists are meeting to discuss Piracy. my job done. 'I wont be attending the meeting because it's going to be a press frenzy and i don't want to detract from the issues 'I'm proud of the fact that that I've been involved with this debate but I'm passing the baton on to other artists.'
