Farewell Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson will soon be returning to his beloved Neverland ranch, where his body will be laid in state so that mourning fans can say farewell to their idol.

His coffin, rumoured to be glass, will be driven through Los Angeles before making the 130 mile journey to the Neverland ranch in California's Santa Barbara County. His body is expected to be laid to rest there at the weekend.

It's also thought that the coffin will make its final journey in a fairytale horse pulled carriage, which is being kept under wraps until it's time to lay his coffin on board. A family source revealed that Michael Jackson will look like a prince as fans pay their last respects and that the carriage will be a main focal point of his last journey.

Thousands of people are expected to gather to watch the pop king's coffin taken through the streets of Los Angeles,

However, the mayor of Michael Jackson's hometown of Gary, Indiana, has other ideas and thinks that his body should be laid to rest in his hometown. He's also desperately trying to get in contact with the Jackson family in regards to the memorial service that has already been set for July 10th as the US Steel Works ballpark in Gary.

'I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Indiana. Now, it may not happen, but I believe it will.' he says, adding that it would be 'a memorial that's fit for the prince of peace and a memorial that's fit for Gary, Indiana's favorite son, the greatest entertainer that ever lived.' (Perez Hilton).

A 30 car motorcade will then drive the coffin to the remote 2,800-acre Neverland site. Construction workers at Neverland are busily preparing the estate, ensuring it looks fit for the occasion. Flurry's of lorries and equipment have been seen passing in and out of the ranch's gates.

'There will never be another Michael Jackson — he was a musical innovator, a great dancer and you know what else? He was one hell of a friend.' - David Guest

UPDATE: Despite the numerous reports, which suggested that the king of pop would be laid to rest at the Neverland ranch, Michael Jackson's public memorial actually took place at the Staples Center on July 7.His final resting place has yet to be confirmed.
